We catch up with Jim, who has been coming to the studio since February 2015, he tells us how adding Bikram Yoga to his schedule has helped with his lower back pain and enabled him to get back to full marathon and triathlon training.
“I now recommend Bikram yoga to everyone I meet, especially if they suffer from exercise related pain”
Jim says.…Four months ago, after a lifetime of running and other extreme racing activities, I was in so much pain with my lower back that I thought my racing days were over.
I had realised that many of the stretches given to me by my physio were yoga poses and found the bikram website on the internet and decided to give it a go.
I found it really difficult at first to cope with the heat and difficulty of the stretches but I persevered, and now I am back into full marathon and triathlon training. Last weekend, I completed my longest run in 2 years – 16 miles, with no pain at all.
The only thing that has changed is attending bikram yoga. Although I have had to decrease my number of bikram sessions, I still go regularly and also practice the poses at home. I now recommend bikram yoga to everyone I meet, especially if they suffer from exercise related pain.
